Learned I was holding my torch wrong for a decade
Last week in Port Arthur, a senior diver watched me tack a line and just shook his head. He showed me I was blocking my own air hose with my arm position, could have been a real problem on a deep bounce. Anybody else get a basic habit corrected way later than they want to admit?

I mean, yeah it's not ideal but is blocking your own hose really that common of an issue? I've seen plenty of people dive with their arms all over the place and it rarely causes problems unless you're doing some really tight cave stuff. On a standard open water bounce you'd probably feel the tug on your mask or notice your reg getting pulled before it became a real emergency. Plus most modern BC's have the hose routed in a way that self-corrects a bit if you're paying attention. It sounds like the senior diver was just being dramatic to make a point, but honestly there are way bigger mistakes that can bite you.
