Can we talk about electric car batteries dying faster in cold weather

I was parked outside my apartment in Minneapolis last January and my EV wouldn't start. The dashboard said I had 80 miles of range but the battery was too cold to actually use it. Sat there for 20 minutes waiting for the battery to warm up before I could drive to work. Has anyone else dealt with this kind of freeze up during winter months?

Dude, my buddy in Chicago had this exact thing happen to him last winter. He was running late for a flight and his car showed 65 miles of range but it was 4 degrees out and the thing just sat there blinking at him. He had to call an Uber and miss his flight, then came back to a car that still wouldn't move until the battery warmed up for almost 30 minutes. Now he keeps it plugged in every night even when it's fully charged just so the battery conditioning can do its thing before he leaves.

Wait, is it just me or is this the same pattern with everything nowadays? Like my buddy's iPhone dies at 30% when it's freezing out, my smart thermostat goes haywire when the temp drops, and even my gas station coffee maker struggles to brew properly in the winter. It's like every piece of tech we rely on just gives up when the weather gets real. EVs are cool but they're basically fancy phones on wheels and we all know what happens when you leave your phone in the car overnight in January. Minneapolis winters are no joke, man.
