I finally closed on my place in NoDa but lost $2k on a bad inspection

I was so hyped to get an offer accepted last fall that I rushed and hired the first inspector I found online. He missed a ton of stuff, like a cracked heat exchanger in the furnace and major grading issues in the backyard. Fixing just those two things cost me over two grand right after moving in. It felt awful knowing I could've avoided it. Anyone got a solid inspector they actually trust around here?

Ugh, I feel that, my guy did a terrible job on my last place too!

Terrible job" is an understatement for my guy. He left a hole in my drywall and said "it'll patch right up." I laughed so I wouldn't cry. I ended up learning how to fix it myself on YouTube. Least I saved some cash I guess?

Man that really sucks, how did you even find out about the heat exchanger? Honestly I rushed my first inspection too and it bit me hard, not that bad but still. It's the worst feeling knowing you paid for a service that basically failed you. I got a good guy now but he's booked out like three weeks, seems like the decent ones are always swamped.
