That $19 knee kicker pad saved my back last Tuesday

I was doing a 12x14 bedroom in Columbus and my knee started killing me by the second row. I usually just use the carpet shield but I grabbed a cheap gel pad from the supply house on a whim. It took me maybe 5 minutes to strap it on over my knee protector and it was like night and day. Anyone else use those gel pads or do you just tough it out on big jobs?

Buddy of mine who runs his own carpet crew told me the same thing after he finished a 3000 square foot office lobby down in Cincinnati. He said he strapped one of those gel pads over his knee pad and his knee felt fine the whole day, which never happens for him. He usually tapes a folded towel to his knee because his knee pad wore thin in the middle. Now he buys those gel pads in bulk and hands them out to his helpers like candy. He said the only downside is getting the thing off after a long day because it sticks to the skin. That was enough to convince me to order one before my next big hallway job.

@wyatta30, how long does that sticky feeling last before you get used to it?
