PSA: My uncle's advice about not stretching carpet too tight nearly cost me a $1200 job
He swore by giving it a little slack, saying it prevents wrinkles later. Last month I followed his method on a living room in Austin and the customer complained about ripples after 3 days. Anyone else get burned by following old-school advice from family?

Stretching it tight with a power stretcher stopped my ripples for good.

Totally agree. A power stretcher changed my whole setup too. Nothing else came close once I cranked it up nice and snug.
