Overheard a builder complaining about carpet seams on a job site yesterday

I was at a supply house in Phoenix picking up padding and heard this contractor going off about how installers never line up seams with doorways. It got me thinking about how often I see seams placed right in the middle of a hallway. Has anyone else had to redo a job because the seam placement was off?

Seams in doorways are actually smart if you think about it. That's where the traffic pattern shifts anyway and a seam there gets less direct foot traffic than smack in the middle of a long run. Plus if you ever have to pull the carpet back for a repair, doorway seams make that way easier than trying to hide a patch in the middle of a hallway.

Hey @carter.jennifer totally agree, I did the same thing in my last house and it made fixing a ripped corner so much easier!
