Tried a $15 sleeping bag liner instead of my usual $200 bag
I tested a cheap fleece liner on a 45 degree night last weekend in Shenandoah and woke up shivering cold at 3am. Turns out the liner only added maybe 5 degrees of warmth, not the 15 the package claimed. Anyone else find those liner temperature ratings to be complete nonsense?

Honestly those liner ratings are marketing fluff, my old fleece blanket from home worked way better than any liner I've tried.

Three winters back I tried a $200 liner that was supposed to be the best thing ever and it didn't even keep me warm at 40 degrees. @rosek73 you're probably right that a random fleece from home would outdo half these overpriced options. I think most of these ratings are just companies paying for good reviews. My old Columbia fleece from Goodwill is still my go-to for camping.
