DAE bring a sleeping bag now after a cold surprise?

I always skipped bringing a sleeping bag to save space. Waking up shivering at 3 AM taught me that weight is worth the warmth. What gear did you end up valuing after a rough night?

Ever try adding a packable down jacket to your kit? Mine stuffs to nothing but has saved me from bailing on crisp mornings. That extra layer between skin and sleeping bag makes all the difference when you learn the hard way.

@wades76 I love the "learn the hard way" part, like yeah I too enjoy just shivering all night. That jacket trick is a game changer though.
