Watch out for that 'quick fix' lens fungus cleaner from online sellers.

I used a drop on a vintage Nikkor 50mm and it left a permanent haze in the coating. Turns out the stuff was mostly isopropyl with an unknown additive. Anyone know a safe way to remove that kind of residue without wrecking the glass?

My old 28mm had haze and a pro used a tiny bit of ROR on a cotton swab. Olivia's right about the risk, but that worked for me.

That's a rough lesson to learn the hard way. Honestly, the safest bet is to leave it to a professional lens technician now. Trying more DIY fixes could just make that haze worse.

Wait, so @fionak63, did the ROR trick leave any streaks or residue behind at all? I've heard mixed things about using liquids inside a lens. Olivia's point is solid about making it worse, but I'm curious if that method only works on certain types of haze. Like, what if it's fungus versus just dust buildup?
