Heard a guy at the lumber yard say he hasn't touched a hand plane in five years.

He was buying pre-dimensioned maple and told his buddy his shop is all CNC now. It made me think about my old Stanley No. 5 and the quiet of hand work. Do you still keep any traditional hand skills sharp, or is it all machines these days?

What's the point of having a shop if you're just loading files and pressing start? My hand tools give me control the machines can't match. I still reach for my block plane almost every day for quick fits and fine tuning. That quiet focus is why I got into woodworking in the first place.

My CNC router saves me hours on rough cuts.
