Spent 45 minutes trying to hone a knife that was just dirty...
I was getting so frustrated last Thursday. This boning knife I've had for 3 years felt dull as a butter knife. I ran it over the steel, the stone, even tried one of those pull-through sharpeners... nothing. Finally looked close and realized it was just caked with dried fat and a little rust spot near the handle. Scrubbed it with some barkeepers friend and a sponge, and it's sharp as ever. Now I feel like an idiot. Anyone else spend way too long on the wrong fix?

I once spent almost an hour fiddling with a lawnmower that wouldn't start, pulled the cord until my arm hurt, checked the spark plug, read the manual twice. Turns out I just forgot to flip the fuel valve on. Felt like a total idiot standing there in the yard. That feeling when you finally figure out it was something simple is always a mix of relief and embarrassment. Your knife story hit close to home, it's way too easy to overthink things. You're not alone in that, trust me.

Yo I've 100% been there lol. Three years ago I spent a solid hour trying to fix a printer that wouldn't print, only to realize the damn USB cable wasn't plugged in all the way. Felt like such a clown. That dried fat thing is so easy to miss too, especially when it's caked on near the handle where you don't really look. Bet your knife feels like a dream now though, nothing beats that first clean slice after you finally figure it out.
