My band saw blade snapped mid cut on a 40 pound pork shoulder order, and I laughed
It popped last Tuesday right as I was splitting a big shoulder for a restaurant order, and my spare was dull as a butter knife. Ended up finishing the whole thing by hand with a 10 inch breaking knife I sharpened 20 years ago, took me 25 extra minutes but the cuts came out cleaner than the saw ever does. Anyone else keep a hand saw nearby just in case, or am I the only one who doesn't trust the machine?
A dull spare blade is just the universe telling you to slow down and get some arm exercise. My "backup plan" is usually a butter knife and a bad attitude, so you're doing better than me. Hand cuts win anyway, cleaner edges and you get to feel like a butcher from an old movie.
