Found a trick for keeping my boning knife grip consistent

I kept losing grip on my boning knife after breaking down like 3 or 4 chickens in a row. Tried wrapping the handle with hockey tape last week and it made a huge difference, no slipping at all through a whole case of birds. Got the idea from a guy I follow on Instagram who breaks down deer, he swears by it. Anyone else use weird hacks for grip or am I just sweaty handed lol.

Nah man hockey tape is good but try athletic wrap instead. Way more breathable and you can change it out daily without gunking up the handle. Tape gets nasty real quick in a pro kitchen.

Troy's right that hockey tape can get nasty, I learned that the hard way when I left a taped knife in my car overnight and it turned into a sticky mess. That athletic wrap idea makes me think of how I used to wrap my fishing rod handles with grip tape from the dollar store, worked okay but felt weird after a few hours. But honestly, if the hockey tape works for breaking down a whole case of birds without slipping, I'd say stick with it and just swap it out more often.
