Warning: don't fall for a $30 vinyl repair kit from the hardware store
Ngl, I spotted this flyer on the coffee shop board for a vinyl repair kit and thought I'd save a desk I found on the curb. Spent $30 on it at Ace Hardware, and it left this sticky goo all over the tear that just attracts dust. The desk looks worse than before. Has anyone actually gotten one of those kits to work on a wooden surface?

Wait, you actually tried one of those kits on wood? Oh man, I did the exact same thing last summer on an old nightstand I found on trash day. That sticky goo is the worst. It never dries right, just stays tacky and grabs every piece of lint and cat hair in a five mile radius. I ended up having to sand the whole spot down with 80 grit paper just to get rid of the mess. The kit promised it would "blend into any surface" but it left this gross, shiny smear that looked like a melted gummy bear. Total waste of thirty bucks, I should have just used wood filler and paint from the start.
