That flyer on the coffee shop board said 'hire a pro' but I went DIY anyway

Saw a handwritten note on the board at Brew Works on 12th Street from someone named Carol saying to never re-grout a shower yourself. I figured she was just being dramatic so I bought a $20 grout saw and spent 6 hours scraping. The old grout crumbled into the drain and now I have a slow leak. Carol was right or was she just unlucky with her own job? What's your experience with ignoring advice on bulletin boards?

Screw around with plumbing and pay the plumber's tuition, that's the rule.

Changed my mind on this too honestly. Used to think "hire a pro" was just fearmongering, but after watching my neighbor turn a 2 hour faucet swap into a $900 flood damage claim I gotta admit there's some truth to it. Carol might have been unlucky, but now I at least stop and think before ignoring those bulletin board notes.
