Question about the cost of a week's worth of lunches
I finally added up what I spent on my work lunches last week. It came to $8.75 for five days. I was shocked. I make a big pot of lentil soup on Sunday, using a bag of brown lentils, a couple of carrots, an onion, and a can of crushed tomatoes I got on sale. I already had the spices. I portion it out into old takeout containers and freeze three of them. The other two go in the fridge. I heat one up each day in the truck stop microwave. It's filling, it's healthy, and it costs less than two bucks a day. I used to grab a sandwich and a drink every day and that was easily eight or nine bucks each time. Has anyone else done the math on a specific meal prep and been surprised by how low the number was?

Saw a thing online where someone did the same with rice and beans, their total was crazy low too.

A whole bag of lentils for less than a dollar... that just doesn't seem possible where I live. The price for dry beans has gone way up lately. I remember when they were cheap but now it's a different story. That online price must be from a few years ago or something. It's hard to believe anyone is finding them that cheap now.
