I finally called out a guy in my book club for doing the same thing every single meeting

Last month, this guy named Steve cut off a woman to start explaining the historical context of the setting, and it was the third time in a row he did that exact move. I just said "Steve, let her finish" and the room went dead quiet for a solid 10 seconds, has anyone else had to deal with a member who keeps derailing the whole conversation?

That "room went dead quiet" part hit home for me. I've had to do the same thing with a guy in my gaming group who kept talking over everyone. You handled it perfectly just by being direct and calm, it usually snaps them out of it.

Three times, three times Steve pulled that move. @mary836 you're spot on, direct and calm works way better than getting loud. I've had to tell a guy in my book club "wait your turn" more than once. Felt like the whole room held its breath. Last time I did it, I almost apologized for being rude. Almost.
