Finally figured out my gaming group's rule arguments after 2 years
My weekly board game group used to devolve into these LONG arguments about rules like every single session. Someone would pull up a forum post on their phone and we'd stand around for 15 minutes debating one sentence. It really killed the momentum and honestly made some nights not that fun. Then about 3 months ago I started doing something simple. Before we even open a new game I watch a how-to-play video on YouTube and write down the key rules on an index card. I also tell everyone at the start of the night that the owner of the game makes the final call on any rule question no debate. It sounds dumb but it cut our argument time down to maybe 2 minutes total per session. Has anyone else in your groups tried something like a designated rule-decider to keep things moving?

Oh man that's such a good idea, the index card thing. Do you actually make everyone shut up when they start arguing or do you have to remind them each time?

Yeah the designated game owner call is how my group fixed it too, works like a charm.
