That time my coffee blog got 12,000 hits in one day by accident
I run this tiny blog about espresso machine mods, like maybe 50 readers on a good day. Last Tuesday I posted a dumb joke about using a turkey baster to backflush a La Marzocco, and somehow it ended up on some big coffee forum. By midnight I had 12,000 hits and my free hosting site crashed. Most of the comments were people mad that a turkey baster doesn't actually work. Has anyone else had a random post just blow up for no reason?

My buddy runs a cycling forum and one time someone posted a pic of a bike lock shaped like a banana. Totally random, no context. It got shared on some meme page and suddenly he had 80k visitors in a day. His server died too. He still gets asked about the banana lock sometimes.
