Warning: I forged a blade with a 15N20 and 1084 mix and it came out way too soft.

Everyone said it'd be fine, but after the quench and temper it wouldn't hold an edge at all. Has anyone else had this happen with that specific combo?

Yeah, saw a thread a while back where someone had a similar issue. They figured their forge temp was off during the quench.

Sounds like a heat treat problem for sure. That combo is proven to work, so the steel itself isn't the issue. Your quench might have been too slow or the temperature before it wasn't high enough. Double check your process with a known good method next time. It's a frustrating mistake but you can fix it.
