Tried a coal forge for a month after using propane for 3 years
Finally got my hands on a coal forge setup and worked with it steady for a month. The heat control is way different, I had to relearn how to read the fire instead of just turning a knob. Anyone else switch fuel types and find one way more forgiving on certain projects?

Whoa wait, you went from propane to coal for a whole month? That's like going from a microwave to a campfire. I seriously can't imagine giving up the instant heat control. I tried coal once for an afternoon and spent half the time fighting the fire instead of working the steel. How do you even keep a consistent welding heat in that thing without burning everything up?

Man, @anderson.spencer, you actually stuck with coal for a whole month? I can't even wrap my head around that. I agree with you though, the heat control thing would drive me insane.
