Found a bookmark for a site that supposedly fixes broken Zippo lighters using just a paperclip and a rubber band

I had a Zippo that wouldn't spark for months, probably close to 5, and I kept putting off getting it fixed. Finally clicked that bookmark out of desperation and found a 20-year-old forum thread where a guy explained how to bend the flint wheel spring back into place with a paperclip. Took me maybe 3 minutes after reading it, so why did I waste half a year on a fix that simple?

Spent a whole evening trying to light a campfire with a dead Zippo once. Looked like an idiot shaking it and flicking it for 20 minutes. Bookmarked page, used a rubber band to hold the flint in place. Fire was going in under a minute. Makes me wonder how many other dumb problems I've just been ignoring for years. Probably a lot.
