Vent: A customer's chain was skipping on a brand new 12-speed cassette
Turns out the derailleur hanger was bent just 2mm out of line from a shipping drop. After I put it on the alignment gauge and fixed it, the shifting was perfect. Has anyone else seen this happen straight out of the box on a new bike?

You tried the alignment gauge on the hanger? That thing saved me so many headaches. I just started checking every new bike build with one and it catches the tiny bends I'd never see by eye.

It makes you wonder about the quality control at the factory these days.

Know it's easy to blame the factory, but honestly, a lot of issues happen after the product leaves the gate. Rough shipping, bad handling at the store, or even how we treat things at home can cause problems. I've seen stuff get banged up in delivery more often than you'd think. Sometimes the box looks fine but the inside is a mess from being dropped.
