Used to gut every book I touched for paper crafting. Now I just scan the pages I need.
I used to tear out pages from old novels for collages, but last month my library refused to sell me their discards after they saw what I was doing. Switched to a flatbed scanner instead and it saves the spine and my reputation. Anyone else have a crafting habit that got weird looks from strangers?

Flatbed scanner was a total game changer for me too.

I really feel for you on this one. "Saved the spine and my reputation" pretty well sums up the awkwardness when you realize other people don't see the same beauty in a deconstructed book that you do. It's a shame when a librarian gives you the side-eye for something that feels perfectly reasonable to you.
