My great grandmother's pound cake recipe turned into a pancake last week

I've been making this same recipe for 10 years, but last Tuesday it came out flat as a pancake. I used all the same ingredients my mom gave me - 3 cups flour, 2 cups sugar, 6 eggs. Walked away for 2 minutes while the mixer was running and it splattered butter all down my cabinets. Has anyone else had a tried-and-true recipe just fail for no clear reason?

Hey @mia_fox98 you might be onto something with the flour thing. My buddy Mark had this exact problem with his mom's chocolate cake recipe. He'd made it for years with no issues then suddenly it came out all flat and dense. Turns out his wife bought a different brand of all-purpose flour on sale and it just didn't hold up the same way. He said the batter looked thinner than usual right from the start but he didn't think twice about it until after the cake flopped. Once he switched back to his usual flour it worked perfect again.

Not sure if this helps but I had a similar thing happen with my banana bread recipe a couple years back. Turned out I was using a different brand of flour than usual and it just didn't absorb the same. Might be worth checking if anything changed with your ingredients even if the brand names look the same.
