My cake stand cracked mid-presentation at my sister's birthday party

I was about to bring out this triple layer chocolate cake I spent all afternoon on for my sister's 30th in Chicago. The glass cake stand just split right down the middle when I lifted it off the counter. I ended up serving the cake on a big cutting board with some paper towels under it to catch crumbs. Has anyone else had a serving piece fail at the worst possible moment?

My grandmother's china platter cracked while I carried her turkey and I just flipped the cake onto a clean pizza box.

A cutting board with paper towels actually sounds way more charming than a fancy cake stand tbh. At least it looked intentional like rustic farmhouse vibes lol.
