Rant: I just read a baking book that said most home ovens run 25 degrees hot.

I checked mine with a separate oven thermometer, and it was actually 30 degrees over. No wonder my cookies kept spreading. Has anyone else found a big difference with their own oven?

I mean, is it really that big of a deal? You just adjust the temp down a bit once you know. My oven's off too but I just kind of feel it out as I go. It's not like it ruins everything.

My old oven was like that too, beth_hunt, but it finally gave out last week.
