The John Muir Trail changed my food strategy after 8 days

I did the JMT last September and by day 8 near Muir Pass I was so sick of my freeze dried meals that I barely ate. I switched to packing mostly tortillas, peanut butter, and a bag of trail mix for the last 4 days and felt way better. Has anyone else hit that wall mid-route and completely changed what they carry? What worked for you on longer trips?

Read somewhere that cold soaking tortillas and peanut butter saves your appetite long term.
