That guy who told me to ditch my heavy pack for a frameless one was so right

I met this older hiker at a shelter on the AT near Hot Springs, NC, and he kept going on about how my 60L Osprey was overkill for the 4 day trips I was doing. I laughed it off but then tried a borrowed 35L frameless pack for a weekend in Shenandoah and honestly my shoulders didn't hurt at all. Has anyone else made the switch and felt like it changed everything for shorter trips?

Yeah, I read somewhere that frameless packs actually help your body move more naturally since the load is closer to your spine, which makes sense. I switched to a 28L for overnights and it feels like I'm just carrying a big daypack instead of a real backpack. The key for me was just being ruthless about what I actually need and leaving the extra clothes and camp chair at home.

Not sure I bought a heavy pack just to save a few ounces.
