Old trail maps still beat the phone in the Sierras

Last month I pulled out my 2004 Tom Harrison map near Bishop Pass when my GPS died, and honestly it felt more solid than any app I've used in 3 years... the scale just makes sense. Does anyone else carry paper backups on remote stretches, or am I just stuck in the past?
