Debate: Did that jammed gyro on a King Air last month require a full unit swap or just a cleaning?
I had a gyro freeze up on a 1980 King Air 200 during preflight last Tuesday in Boise, and the manual says replace the whole unit, but an old tech I know swears he fixed the same issue by just blowing out dust and reseating connectors - has anyone else gone the cheap route successfully or are we all just buying new parts now?

So the manual says replace - did your old tech buddy show you his fix actually held up long term?

My buddy's "permanent fix" lasted exactly three days before it completely snapped on the highway.
