Trusted a neighbor's brake bleed tip, ended up with fluid on my face
Guy next door swore I could skip the vacuum pump and just pump the pedal with a buddy. Tried it in my driveway in Phoenix, cap was off, got a hot stream of DOT 3 right in the eye. Anyone else get burned by a free driveway shortcut?

Buddy system brake bleeds should come with a warning label and a poncho, not a free lesson from the neighbor. Been there with a gravity bleed gone wrong, except mine was brake fluid on the hood of my truck and a nice paint stain I still get to look at every morning. That DOT 3 does not care about your eyes or your feelings, it just goes where it wants. At least you learned the hard way that free advice from the guy next door usually costs more than the right tool would have. Hope your eye is okay, that stuff burns like crazy.
