My brother-in-law was sure his car's rattling was a built-in feature

Last Thursday, my brother-in-law rolls into the bay with his car sounding like a tin can full of marbles. He's convinced the rattling is a cool new feature from the manufacturer, some kind of road feedback system. I lift it up and spot a heat shield that's come loose, just one bolt holding on for dear life. My coworker Mike walks over, hears the story, and cracks up saying it's the cheapest alarm he's ever seen. We tighten it up, and my brother-in-law drives off happy, but now he jokes that his car has a personality. It's moments like these that make the day interesting, dealing with how folks see their vehicles. I've learned to ask a few extra questions because you never know what people assume is normal. Always good to have a laugh and fix a simple problem.

Your brother-in-law's 'road feedback system' had me laughing. It's crazy how a simple loose part can sound like a feature. Those moments really do make the job interesting.

Yeah that's wild how people will believe anything about their cars lol. Makes you wonder what other "features" are out there just waiting to be discovered.

Man, that's so true about people and their cars. My neighbor thought her squeaky brakes were a safety reminder feature!
