Just realized I've been over-torquing lug nuts for years because my old click wrench was out of spec.

A customer came back with warped rotors on their Civic, and the shop foreman showed me his calibrated digital torque wrench reading 20 foot-pounds over my setting... what's your go-to method for checking your torque tools?

My shop has a torque tester we send all the wrenches to every six months. It's saved us from a few expensive mistakes like that.

I read that regular calibration can prevent major warranty claims down the line.

Borrow a Snap-On from a guy who breaks shit for a living and hope his is the one that's wrong. That's the real calibration method right there. But in all seriousness I just do the arm-torque method on rusted Honda lugs since they're all going to cross-thread anyway. Buy a new $40 Harbor Freight special every couple years and treat it like a consumable like brake pads. The click on those is more of a suggestion than a guarantee.
