Wasted $1,200 on a cheap paint booth setup
I tried to save money by building my own paint booth with some duct fans and furnace filters, thought it would work fine for small jobs. After three months, I had dust nibs in every single job and had to repaint five customer bumpers, costing me way more in time and materials. Any of you guys tried the budget booth route and regretted it like I did?

...that setup sounds like the exact same mistake I made last year. I was so proud of my taped-together booth with a 20 dollar furnace fan and some AC filters that cost me a case of beer to scavenge. After the third time I sanded and resprayed a hood because of a mysterious little dust nib, I realized I'd basically paid 1,200 bucks to make my life harder for three months instead of just buying a proper kit from the start. Honestly, I still have that fan in my garage and I look at it like a trophy for being a cheap idiot.

Damn @the_nathan, that's exactly the kind of pain I was trying to avoid lol. So when you finally broke down and bought a proper kit, did you go with one of those ready-to-assemble booths or just upgrade your fan and filters piece by piece? I'm sitting here with a pile of sanded bumpers trying to figure out if I should just bite the bullet on a whole system or try to salvage my half-assed setup.
