Paint gun air valve stuck open on a BMW hood today
I was spraying clear coat on a 2020 BMW 3 series hood this morning and the air valve on my Iwata gun just locked up mid-pass. Couldn't shut the air off without disconnecting the hose. Took me 45 minutes to tear it down and find a chunk of teflon tape jammed in the valve seat. Has anyone else had issues with tape bits getting into their gun internals?

Teflon tape is the devil. Switched to PTFE paste years ago for this exact reason. Tiny little stringy bits find their way everywhere. Air valves, fluid passages, even the needle packing. Never again with tape on a paint gun.
