Bought a $400 infrared paint curing lamp and it's been a total letdown
Honestly, I thought it would cut my clear coat drying time in half. I used it on a 2022 Honda Civic hood repair last month and it still took the full overnight cure. The heat was uneven and left a slight orange peel in one spot I had to wet sand out. I've tried it on five different jobs now and it just doesn't live up to the hype for the price. Has anyone actually gotten good, consistent results from these things, or did I just get a bad unit?

My buddy’s $300 lamp had the same orange peel issue.

Wow, that's wild... makes you wonder if the factory messed up a whole batch of their paint or clear coat. Maybe they switched to a cheaper sprayer to save money and didn't adjust the settings right. Could be the same exact flaw on a bunch of expensive items sitting in warehouses now.
