Caught a torque spec typo in a repair manual, glad I checked

Was torquing down the front spindles on my 2005 Polaris last weekend. Manual said 38 ft-lbs, but the service bulletin I found online said the revised spec was 52 ft-lbs after a recall. Called the dealer in Tulsa to confirm, and they said the old number caused bearing failures on that model year. Cost me an extra phone call and 15 minutes, but probably saved a hub job down the road. How often do you guys cross-check torque specs against the updated bulletins? Has anyone else found a bad number in the factory manual?
