Serious question about solar panels - worth it or not?

I was dead set against solar for years because my neighbor paid $12,000 and his electric bill barely dropped. Then my cousin in Phoenix put them on his house last summer and his AC ran all day for free. What made you finally change your mind on something like this?

Did you ever look into what kind of panels your neighbor got? I was the same way till my buddy in Texas showed me his bill went from 200 bucks to like 30 in the summer and that changed my whole view.
