My grandpa insisted I keep my old CRT monitor and he was right

Last year I almost tossed my Sony Trinitron from 2003. My grandpa said 'Don't do it, you'll want that thing for retro games.' I ignored him for 6 months then tried playing my old PS2 on a modern flat screen and it looked like garbage. Hooked up the Trinitron last week and everything is PERFECT again. Has anyone else had an older relative give weirdly good tech advice that paid off?

Had a buddy who held onto his dad's old Pioneer receiver from the 90s, the kind with a huge silver face and actual knobs. He dragged it through three moves just because his dad said "you'll miss good sound someday" and now he uses it every day for his turntable and TV setup. Funny how the older generation knew exactly what they were talking about when it came to keeping gear that actually worked.

Guess that's one way to silence the 'new stuff sounds better' crowd.
