Tried shooting expired Fuji Superia 400 and hated the results at first

Picked up a 10 roll pack of expired Superia 400 from a guy on Craigslist for $20. Developed the first roll and everything came out this weird greenish tint with heavy grain. Honestly I was about to toss the rest but my friend said to bracket my shots and overexpose by one stop. Tried that with the next roll at a park in Portland and the colors shifted into this soft pastel look I actually loved. Has anyone else salvaged bad expired film by tweaking exposure?

oh man that greenish tint is such a bummer at first. i had almost the same thing happen with a roll of expired portra 400 i found at a thrift store. first few shots were all muddy and gross looking, i was so mad i wasted money on it. then i tried shooting it at 200 iso and it totally transformed into this dreamy washed out look that i ended up loving for portraits. the pastel thing you mentioned is exactly what i got too, like the colors softened up and got this nice vintage vibe. it's crazy how a little overexposure can totally save a bad roll of film.

Wait you found expired portra at a THRIFT STORE @riverwhite? That's insane, I can never get that lucky. I've been meaning to try overexposing my expired rolls but I keep chicken out and leaving them at box speed.
