Wasted $30 on a GeoCities template pack - total garbage

I bought this pack of templates for my GeoCities page back in 1999. It promised cool animated GIFs and layouts but everything was broken. The guestbook code didn't even work. I ended up just learning basic HTML from a library book instead. Anyone else fall for those template scams back then?

My friend bought that exact same pack and the "cool flame animation" GIF had a giant white box around it. I tried to help him fix it with notepad but we just made everything worse. Those template sites were such a ripoff back then, the library book was definitely the smarter move.

Those old GIF packs were such a headache. I messed up my whole site trying to edit one in Notepad too.
