Spent 4 hours trying to save a single Geocities page from 1996

I found this old Geocities shrine to the Spice Girls with blinking GIFs and a MIDI player, but the page kept breaking because the image links were all dead. After manually fixing each URL and embedding the MIDI from a backup, it finally worked. Has anyone else wasted a whole afternoon just to keep one retro page alive?

My buddy spent a whole Sunday doing this exact thing with an old Angelfire page about the band Morcheeba. He had to dig through archive.org to find the original background image and manually rehost it. The MIDI file took forever because he had to convert it from some obscure format that doesn't even exist anymore. When he finally got it working, he just stared at the screen for a minute like he'd won some kind of time travel war. It's weird how these little lost corners of the internet feel like actual treasure when you bring them back.
