A guy in a 1997 AOL chatroom told me my Angelfire page was 'peak 90s' and I still think about it
So I was messing around in an AOL chat room called 'WebDesigners90s' back in 1997 and some guy with the screen name WebWizardDave messaged me out of nowhere. He said my Angelfire page with the spinning skull gif, the hit counter, and a midi version of 'Enter Sandman' was 'peak 90s, don't ever change it.' Half of me was proud and half of me thought he was making fun of me. Now I wonder if he was right or if we were all just doing the same weird stuff. Do you think the flashing backgrounds and guestbooks were actually cool or were we all just lost in the chaos?
What happened when you tried to load that Angelfire page on a real connection, did the spinning skull and midi actually work or did it just crash the browser? I'm curious if WebWizardDave ever saw it load right or if he was just judging the idea of it.
