Looks like the old school method still has some tricks up its sleeve. A sealant gun can make a mess, but a putty knife gives you that control for a smooth finish. No surprise the cleanup was easier without all that extra gear to deal with.

Hold up, @parkerrodriguez, did you say the cleanup was EASIER? I'm shocked. Last time I used a putty knife for sealant, I spent an hour scraping dried gunk off the blade and my hands. That stuff gets everywhere in the grooves. You must have had some magic putty knife or something, because my experience was a total mess. I ended up just throwing the tool away, it was so ruined.
