Serious question, has anyone else tried that new 'high-temp' spray-on mold release from that online tool shop?
I bought a gallon for $85, thinking it would save time on our aluminum pours. It gummed up after two uses and ruined a core box. What do you guys actually use for stubborn patterns?

That paste wax method maxp68 mentioned is the only thing I trust for deep undercuts. We heat the pattern to about 150, put on a thin coat, let it haze, and buff it off. It adds maybe five minutes to the setup but it beats wrecking tooling. Those fancy sprays always seem to fail when the metal is hottest and you really need it. I learned the hard way with a cheap silicone spray that welded a pattern plate shut. Now it's just the can of paste wax on the shelf, nothing else.

Ruined a core box"?! That's brutal, man. I would be so mad. For stuff that really sticks, we just use the old school paste wax and a heat gun. It takes a minute but it never fails. That spray stuff is always a gamble.
