I used to think my local library was just for books until last Tuesday
I was at the Central Library downtown, looking for a specific travel guide that was checked out. While wandering, I found a whole display of free local music zines and a rack of community event flyers for things like park cleanups and free concerts. I picked up a flyer for a bluegrass band playing at a cafe I'd never heard of. Went to the show last night and it was amazing, found a new favorite spot. It made me realize how much stuff you can find just by walking around a physical place instead of waiting for an app to show it to you. Has anyone else stumbled on a cool local event or resource just by being somewhere in person?

Yeah, the part about finding stuff by just walking around... I found a free plant swap flyer taped to a light pole last month. Ended up with a weird succulent I never would have looked for online.

That's a lucky find, but it sounds like a total gamble. Walking around hoping to spot a flyer is a huge waste of time for most people. You could walk for hours and find nothing useful. Online groups for plant swaps are way more reliable. You can see what's available and plan for it, instead of just hoping you get lucky.
