Picked a random thrift store journal over the $40 artisan one

Found this beat up 1978 journal at Goodwill for $2. The art is terrible but the handwritten notes about someone's road trip through Oregon are gold. Anyone else go cheap and get lucky with the stories?

Bet you got the better deal since that artisan one probably just has blank pages and bad poetry.

July 1985 is the date on a journal I picked up from a Salvation Army in Portland for a dollar. It was some guy's diary about his summer working at a fish cannery in Alaska. @juliam40 is right, the blank pages in a fancy journal can't compete with the real stuff. I spent a whole evening reading about his run-in with a bear and how he lost his favorite hat. Those thrift store finds are always the best because you get a story you never expected.
