Found a 2008 thread about a guy trying to fix his VCR with a butter knife
I was digging through an old gaming forum archive last night and stumbled on this post from a user named 'TechWizard77' who swore he could fix his VCR's stuck tape with a warmed-up butter knife. He posted pictures of the melted plastic mess it made. What's the weirdest repair attempt you've ever seen someone document online?

Oh man, that story is a classic! It reminds me of a video I saw where someone tried to unclog a sink drain with a whole bunch of those little magnet balls. Spoiler: it did not go well and they had to call a real plumber. I get the desperate logic though, @holly_young35. Sometimes you just run out of ideas and the butter knife is right there. What did people even do before you could just look up a tutorial for everything?

Read this one story once where a guy used a vacuum cleaner to try to unclog his toilet and it just made the biggest mess ever. Desperate times call for desperate measures I guess, even if it backfires spectacularly.
