Vent: I shot a roll of film at my niece's birthday party and the whole thing came out blank

I mean, I was so bummed. Turns out, I found out from a guy at the camera shop that the film leader on some older cameras doesn't always catch right. He said it's super common with my specific model, a Pentax K1000, if you don't push the film tip far enough past the mark. I lost all those cake and party pictures. Has anyone else had this happen with a K1000, and how do you make sure it catches every time?

Actually, I've had the opposite experience with my K1000. That camera is known for being a tank with a very reliable film transport. I always just load it like the manual says, making sure the tip is aligned with the mark, and I've never once had a leader not catch. I wonder if the film itself or a worn camera part was the real issue.

So your camera works perfectly every single time? Must be nice living in that fantasy world. My K1000 eats film leaders for breakfast unless I do a little prayer dance first. Maybe you got the one they built on a Wednesday.
